the title says it all....thanks guys.

It's one of D's top choices....here's what I can tell you. It's in BOSTON! (great, great college town--about 60 colleges and universities in immediate area). BU is one of the largest (if not THE largest) private university. Campus is along the Charles River, and long and spread out, and separated by a multi-lane highway.....much more of an urban feel than a separated, distinct college campus. Many really good programs. There seems to be a BC vs. BU animosity---don't know why, but I've seen it throughout CC. That's what I can say from the top of my head....

it used to have an unfortunate reputation, then it got really good around 20 years ago, but it's still sort of a party school

practically doesn't have a campus, kind of like NYU actually, crazy weather, anything from snow in the middle of April to 70 degrees in the middle of January. their optometrists are pretty nice, and the optometry facility seems pretty swank. very urban, located near MIT.

they have a jamba juice, which i believe is the only one in the boston area so far. since they're close to MIT, they're also near this place called Anna's (which is actually on the MIT student center) which serves beast burritos for $3.25.

they are indeed located along the Charles River, which has been recently deemed sanitary enough to swim in. i grew up with the horror stories of that river, so i shall probably never step foot in it, but i think it should be pretty safe. the Charles River is also where the great boat races are held; the main event's always Yale vs Harvard, but there are plenty of other great races there too. if you do end up at BU you should attend the boating events sometime, they're pretty special.

I visited a friend there and I loved it. Everyone was super friendly, ordinary dining hall food was amazing. Everyone seemed to like it.

It's an amazing school but not worth the 40k+ a year - i.e., you should go there if you get good FA, but not fork out big bucks if you've got a good enough state school as the reputation doesn't yet merit the cost.

I absolutely loved the idea of BU and Boston. I'd argue that it's located in the best college city in the nation and have noticed that it is the "dream" school for a lot of my friends.

i got into penn state, st joes (philly), college of charleston...waiting on TCNJ and about to apply to villanova.

what do you guys think? are any of these comparable to BU

Penn State is comparable. If you're in-state or get a scholarship so that it's cheaper, PSU is the better deal overall, though BU has a much better environment/experience in my opinion.

should i apply to BU and see what happens? im in my honors program at my jr college so possibly they will spot me some money?

why not? give it a shot.

such as Richmond/ Loyola in Maryland/ TCNJ.

I have a friend that goes to Loyola and he swears by it, I visited there and it was a great time, says work is challenging and has only a 2.5, but I heard you are guaranteed a job out of that school and it is well respected. I also heard similar things about Richmond and TCNJ. TCNJ is a great school if interested in technology.

BU suffers a bit from comparison to the major schools across the Charles and to a lesser extent the one in Chestnut Hill, as well as the several area LAC's.

On its own, it is a fine school in, as most everyone agrees, a great college town, but not necessarily better than a first-rate state U, tho at a far higher cost.

well, i got into loyola maryland and they will only accept about 1/2 of my transfer credits. st joes in philly and penn state are taking almost all.

im about to apply to villanova as well. any other suggestions?

sorry about Loyola with the credits, I'd do St. Joe's then if I was you.

any particular reason why st joes > penn state, college of charleston, tcnj, and possibly villanova (if i get in)

how are the dorms (note: ill be a transfer)
