Hello! I recently finalized my letters recommendation and both of my teachers have submitted their letters but I’m sort of worried that it will raise a red flag bc they’re both from science. I asked my Physics teacher and my Anatomy teacher for letters of rec as I didn’t feel any other subjects would represent me well enough. I’ve never had strong bonds with Humanities teachers and my Calc teacher received far too many requests and I didn’t want to add more to stress her out. I picked my Physics and Anatomy teachers because they are two very different sciences, they are the two teachers that know me the best, and both classes pertain to my major. Also, in Physics I was much more outgoing and enthusiastic in class and got to the point where I can joke around with the teacher, but in Anatomy I showed a lot more passion towards the subject matter and always stayed after class to ask questions. Will this contrast make up for the letters both being from science teachers? I’m pretty sure I’m overthinking this but I want to be sure that I didn’t commit college-admissions suicide with my decision. I’d appreciate any advice or commentary on my situation. Thanks!
It depends on the colleges. Check the admissions requirements web page of each college. A few of the more selective colleges do specify which subject teachers should write you letters, but most don’t care as long as you have the required number.
