bottom line; What is the most promising way to raise your ACT score?

im going to be taking the ACT next year, and i want to know the most promising way to raise my score. i am a quick learner, and i took one on my own this summer. i got a 26 with some self prep. i want to do much better though. science was weakest score. any tips?

Hm. I just took it today without any prep, and I think I did quite well…here would be my tips:

English – read along as you correct grammatical errors; know basic grammar rules (this section is quite easy)

Math – know formulas; practice for timing (I heard the most complaints about the race against the clock in this section)

Reading – read carefully; become a good reader by perusing everything you can before the test; scanning the passages/reading questions before the passage is not recommended

Science – my method for this one was skip reading the intros, check graphs! if the graphs did not provide the answer, check the intros…nearly all of the answers are right in front of you

Math, in my opinion, is the easiest to raise through practice. Train yourself in English so that you will be able to recognize errors and correct them automatically before looking at the answer choices. For the Critical Reading portion of the exam, train yourself in a method specific to you. Timing is critical in both Reading and Science.

Review books are key for improving your score. They really help a lot with whatever subject you need to improve on.

I used eprep . c o m (for some reason it starred the site out when i typed it originally.) and raised my score from a 27 to a 31. I recommended it to my friend and he went from a 26-29. It is a great prep course for the ACT as it has 4 practice tests and after u take each one it will tell u your score and there is a video explanation for every single question. It is also only about 1/4 the cost of a normal act prep class.
