Bout to get a D in a core class. Not good.

I'm not too good with chemistry. Not that I hate it, but it's not clicking too well. Seems bad as a prospective mechanical engineer. Perhaps it is the extensive microscopic perspective. Hell, I still don't fully understand molecular orbitals.

So I just took my chem test of which I'm fairly sure I'm getting a D in. I studied quite a few hours worth, but obviously some things just wont stay. My first test was a low B and the second a low C. On quizzes i get B's and C's thanks to it being 10 questions. But they don't count for much.

Averaging out to my current C, I might now be getting a D. Luckily, it is a prerequisite to a class I'm taking in sophomore year. Am I allowed to take chemistry at a community college over the summer and transfer the credits to my current college? or is something like this usually a college specific policy and ask my advisor?

Currently I have an A in Engineering and Engineering Lab, and a B in my univ english, calc 1, and chem lab class. Something about chemistry is just bringing me down.
