Yes, I think you have a shot.
Your SATs are a little low for these schools, but I think they’ll find you an interesting applicant.

There are many less selective schools with similar characteristics. Look at the US News LAC rankings, #20-#40 or so, for “match” schools.

If you’re Asian, that’ll increase your chances.

You might want to raise your SAT scores for Bowdoin and Amherst.

What would be the recommended score?

also, what would you say would be a safe range to aim for? i know my first choice is Amherst with an acceptance rate of 16%, but I am also thinking of applying to Colorado College (32%) and Willamette (59%). How important are SAT scores for these colleges??

Julia25 - for Amherst and Bowdoin, I would say 2200+ is a good safe range (a little higher for Amherst), but unhooked people do get into both with lower scores. I got into Bowdoin with a 2230, and was waitlisted at Amherst (did not pursue). However, I know a lot of the lower scores of these schools are URMs, legacies, recruited athletes, etc. I have no idea about CC or Williamette.

hmmm darn… well I think I can get a higher score on the SATs now that I have a feel for what they are like. Thank you everyone for the input! :)
