Bowdoin vs. JHU and Chicago

Hi everyone. If anyone has some advice on liberal arts colleges vs. research universities, I would really appreciate it. I was accepted at Bowdoin, Middlebury, Hopkins, and Chicago so insights on those particular schools would also be appreciated. However I realize that there are several threads comparing Middlebury and Bowdoin directly so I’ll probably carry out that conversation there.

congrats on your acceptance to each of these fine institutions. what do you want your undergrad experience to be like? do you have plans for graduate school? each school provides excellent academics and will open doors to the best graduate programs, so it seems to me that sharing insights about what kind of community you want to be involved will illicit helpful responses. what are your notions of what a college experience should encompass?

Also - do you have a particular acadmeic interest or is that yet to be determined? An example would be that Bowdoin is very strong in the sciences while Middlebury is very strong in languages . . .

You can only go to a LAC once; they are uniquely American educational experiences. You'll have as many bites at the apple with research universities as they have graduate degrees.
