Bowdoin vs. Vassar (social life and the arts)

Hello,
I am a high school senior and strongly considering early decision to either Bowdoin or Vassar. I am a dancer (currently injured=[) and I really want to continue dance in college. Obviously, Vassar has an incredible dance dept, but I am very worried about the social life there. I am not big on parties and I really want a school with very little social pressure to party. I go to a high school with a lot of hipsters and a huge pressure to go to parties so I really don't want to find myself in that situation again. Can any Vassar or Bowdoin students or alums comment on the social life (especially pertaining to partying and exclusivity). Also does anyone know anything about Bowdoin's dance dept?

Thank you very much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

post this in Vassar threads, you’ll get more info.

I would think that Vassar would be a much more interesting place to go to school, with its proximity to New York City. Not that Bowdoin isn’t good.

Whatever college you go to, you don’t have to party. You will make friends with people who have similar interests and desires. So I don’t think this should be a salient issue in determining which school to attend.

I would think that if you have an interest in dance, what better place to be than near NYC?

You should visit both schools to get a feel. These are pretty different schools though they are both small LACs.

When you said you were worried about the social life at Vassar, I thought you were going to say that there wouldn’t be enough parties! Vassar is one of the last places I’d ever think of as a pressure-to-party school.
