Boy Scouts Volunteering Help

(Not Sure if this is the correct forum to post this)
guys,

Just some quick questions to my fellow scouts. Where do you guys get the opportunity to volunteer with scouting or in scouting events. Maybe its just my area but my troop does not receive that many opportunities to volunteer. Also what are some nationally recognized awards you can get in scouts that might be potentially helpful on my college application. Originally i joined Scouting because i loved it and have just recently learned about all the benefits it provides. I am also part of the OA (got my brotherhood) and am a eagle scout.

Thanks for all your help!

I’m also an Eagle Scout. Our troop runs lots of community events. Contact the mayor and see what sort of events the maor is willing to let the Scout troop organize. We also organize events ourselves.

Our troop works with the local library, VFW, and does maintenance projects in one of the town parks. We have also provided manpower for charity runs and other community activities. Have you been to National Youth Leadership Training? That is also an activity that looks good on you resume. If your whole troop can not get organized enough to do a particular activity you are interested in, just grab one or two of your friends.
