Mine disappeared. Im 95% positive that I will be rejected.
Has anyone have yet to hear from Brandeis? I submitted my application on February 2.
Rejected. Have a 4.0 and a handful of extracurricular activities that I have been involved in for a few years. Oh well. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!
Is there anyone still waiting?
I just recently visited Brandeis’ campus and wanted to briefly comment on it - if someone from the thread still has not made their decision…
I was frankly very disappointed. When I applied, I considered Brandeis one of my top choices - loved their programs, location, and overall student community. After my visit, however, Brandeis went all the way to the bottom of my list. Probably, even below most of my safeties.
Although Brandeis has a great reputation, pretty good name recognition, and excellent ranking, their campus is awful - at least in my opinion. Throughout the past years, I’ve visited around 30 colleges, and Brandeis’ campus was arguably the worst one I’ve seen. Very dirty, in poor conditions, old (and not in a good and pretty way). Honestly, I’d have to say that most buildings at my current community college look better than Brandeis’ facilities. The virtual tour is not to be trusted - pictures and videos look much better than the reality. Princeton Review accurately ranks Brandeis in the top ten least beautiful colleges.
Also, Brandeis refused to accept half of my college credits. They rejected almost all of my credits from Dual Enrollment and Early Admission - for no other reason than that they were acquired through these programs. None of my regular math credits transferred. If I were to go to Brandeis, I would have had to do an extra year of college… I would have had to take some classes again. To me, that was time-consuming and simply not affordable.
However, if you don’t really care about how the campus looks and don’t have much credits, then Brandeis can work quite well for you. Their general education requirements are easy to meet, so you have more time to focus on your major. Everyone on campus is super nice! When I visited, professors and students seemed truly caring. Unlike administrators at many other schools, Brandeis’ administrators were incredibly helpful. And, of course, Brandeis is only 10 miles from Boston (although traffic is pretty horrible too).
For me personally, the negatives greatly outweigh the positives, so I wouldn’t recommend Brandeis to others. If you got rejected, I’d say you’re not missing much. There are much better colleges out there. After all, ranking is not everything. I will probably end up attending a college that is ranked two times lower than Brandeis but better for my major. The college’s campus is also much nicer.
In any case, no matter where you end up, good luck! This is all about finding the right fit for YOU!
