Hi guys I got admitted to Brandeis and American University Honors Progam and having difficulty in selecting one of them.
I have heard that the AU Honors Program this year has changed and become highly selective (25 honors students vs approx 1700 freshmen) and that professors and the school really invest their resourses, time and effort in the honors students. However, I dont know whether the program is so highly regarded by employers and graduate schools that I should give up a more pretigious school like Brandeis. P/s: I intend to double major in International Studies and Psychology and I have to pay approx the same amount of money to both schools.
Any advice is highly appreciated!! Please help me out!!
My daughter is a junior International Studies major at AU. She is not in the Honors Program but the SIS is highly competitive. There is actually a class that is known for weeding out the IS pool of students. She knows many who switched majors because of it. AU is a highly politically active school. The professors are involved and most are not just academics but have had prestigious professional experience. The study abroad program is fantastic and the opportunities for internships in your field are at your doorstep in DC. I would assume that being in the honors program would only enhance this experience. Ultimately, it comes down to where you feel most at home. When it’s dark at 4:00 p.m, cold and rainy and you’re spending more time studying than sleeping…you have to love where you are.
@Neurotic1 thank you so much for your information!!! i will note down all the points you mentioned!
Neurotic1- what’s the SIS course known for weeding out students?
