I’m pretty sure UF does NOT re-award the scholarships. I think they give out 300 and that’s it, so if you don’t get one, you don’t get one. Look on the scholarship page.
I agree. I think that they expect some % will not be used (yield) and plan for that in the number they offer. Similar to the number they offer acceptance versus those who actually attend.
its about $215 dollars… my daughter takes like 13 credits and with the $300 in books its like $3,100 a semester if 13 credits. CASH
so pre paid is not a cash balance its credits… so you own 120 credits… if you take 13 credits, then the prepaid covers the 13 credits you are taking leaving a balance of 107 credits left… there are some small fees for technology but its like $250 that would still be needed to be paid after pre paid covers the tuition… the BF sends about $212 per credit to the UF account for your daughter plus $300 for books… first the $250 is paid off and the balance then gets transferred via direct deposit that you set up right into your bank account in cash.
So happy to have these chat groups, nice to know I am not alone!!
I have a Freshman at USF with BF, FPP and Merit. I am not sure if all the universities do this, but he gets a pretty nice refund that pays for his spending money. (He lives off campus, so no dorm or meal plan)
Ty. This is helpful!!!
How did everyone do? I know a few got in from the other thread.
@erd1020 I didn’t have one applying. My two are already at UF.
Just verifying the excess funds from BF can go into the parent’s bank account correct? Does not have to be in the student’s name?
Whatever bank account the student provides to the Bursar on One.UF.
One thing that I have learned is that UF (probably most universities) will not communicate or give access to the student’s accounts unless the student allows it. It doesn’t matter if the parent is paying 100%, the parent doesn’t have any rights to the students information or accounts.
Agree that the BF (or any overage) can go into any account the student lists. That won’t change the tax reporting and the 1098T will be issued to the student with the excess scholarship potentially taxable to the student.
