My understanding is that Bright Futures and FSU recalculate high school GPAs using their own criteria for core courses. Does anyone know if the Bright Futures GPA is equivalent to the FSU GPA or does it tend to be lower or higher than the FSU GPA?
FSU GPA is core classes: Math, Social Science, English, Science, Foreign Language. Bright Future counts all the classes included electives like Band, I believe.
@Parman37 according to bright futures website they only give credit to core classes, not electives.
I do not remember bright futures using any gpa other than what the high school provided. BF might have, but I don’t remember getting any notice that the gpa had been adjusted.
@twoinanddone yes their website says it calculates it’s own GPA from high school transcript. You can see their calculated GPA on the site. They don’t seem to give as much credit for AP and Dual.
Well, if they have a calculator then you can figure it out. Also, I had to call BF a couple of time and they were very nice and helpful.
My daughter’s weighted and unweighted gpa’s were very close. She went to 3 different high schools and they all had different systems. She also didn’t have many ‘non-core’ classes (ceramics?).
