Hello, we are currently considering to send our kid to study to Boston at Grade 5 for the coming academic year 2015/2016. We have been introduced to Brimmer and May School but we do not have details on whether the academic and culture of this school is good. In particular, we would like to understand which category the school is in if we divide the Boston elementary into 5 categories, and whether the teacher cares about the individual needs of each student. Thanks.
Sorry, I am a little confused. Are you sending your child as a boarder? Brimmer and May is a fine school but if you plan on boarding a young child I would recommend The Bement School or Fay school for that.
Ok, I looked it up. I personally think it is an wonderful school!! This forum though is mostly about prep boarding schools.
Good luck
While this forum is primarily about boarding schools there are many threads about Boston area prep school.
Brimmer is a day school for grades K-12.
I am not sure what you mean by category of school. I have heard a lot of positive things and like the head of school.
Traffic/parking can be a challenge. It is on our list to look at next year for the high school search.
Thanks a lot for the responses! We plan to send our kid as a day student as we also want him to join some other sports outside school after lessons. We have just planned to do it but is it too late if we want to join the school in 2015 fall?
The traditional admission cycle is over but most schools will consider an application if they have space in that grade. Contact the admission office to ask. I think they have group tours on Wednesday mornings this month. Check the website for more info.
Thanks! Have your heard of Applewild? How would you compare it with Brimmer?
I’ve never even heard of it (and I’ve lived in the Boston area for 25 years). I googled it out of curiosity – Fitchburg is really in the middle of nowhere.
For a day student, how are Brimmer and May and Applewild even on the same list from a geography perspective?
