British Schooling System and my Issue with it! Please Help!

I am a sixteen year old and I’m doing my AS exams in a month. Universities here in the UAE (the country with Dubai) do not require me to do my A levels which is why my parents are reluctant to let me do year 13. They say it’s going to be a waste of money and time. I am really afraid as to whether not finishing my ALevels will affect me when trying to apply to post-graduate schools abroad. Please this is making me extremely paranoid and anxious. It’s as if my future is going to be stopped at that point and I just don’t know what to do or say? Should I disobey my parents and do year 13? Or should I just attend university and deal with this matter later on in life? Will this affect my post-graduate studies?

Once you have a university degree (Bachelor’s or above), nobody cares about your high school record. Do whatever makes sense for the universities you wish to attend.

Where do you want to attend university? European and Canadian universities will want full A-Levels (AS+A2); some may admit you if you accept to do a foundation or preparatory year, which is quite costly. Some American universities accept students with GCSE/IGCSE’s only and a couple may give you credit for AS levels, but they do not offer scholarships. Therefore you need to talk with your parents and compare your choices, Year13+A Levels providing credit and thus opening more opportunities+scholarships, or stopping at the end of Year12 and doing the “foundation”/preparatory year or having fewer credits.

MYOS, can you confirm that you were writing about undergraduate admissions (Bachelor), not graduate admissions (Masters, PhDs, etc)? This distinction seems important for the OP’s question.

@b@r!um know i can get into undergraduate school in my country (I’ll be attending Sorbonne Abu Dhabi) but what I’m worried about is if I’ll get affected when attending British universities for post graduate studies. Now if what you said is true, i won’t need to do full Alevels then

Sorry, I misunderstood - yes I meant for undergraduate studies. For graduate studies, you’ll be fine.

I had one bridesmaid who couldn’t even make it to the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner. No biggie to me. She got through it just fine even without rehearsing  I was just happy to have her there on my wedding day.

@bhs1978 why is that relevant here? Nonetheless I’m happy for u too lmao idk whats happening but sure

@Judaskenobi OOPS sorry. I apparently posted in the wrong thread. Sorry!!!
