Has anyone entered the "Broadway's Next Big Star" contest on Broadway Space yet? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to take a lot of time to make a super creative video or not, as I'm right in the middle of midterms. I live in NYC, so a lot of the perks wouldn't really apply to me, but then again it would be a great opportunity to put myself in front of big casting directors and producers and other people like that. I don't know, though. What would you guys do?

Oh, I probably should have included a link so you guys would know what I’m talking about. haha

I was watching one girl’s videos from this competition on youtube and her videos looked extremely time consuming and expensive. She literally had on a costume just like the character who’s song she was singing. I think that would be very time consuming and somewhat expensive for costumes and stuff. Also, I wish it wasn’t over the internet. An american idol-style in person audition process would be much more interesting.

I had not heard of this competition until now. If you have to make a video audition for summer programs or college auditions or even if you need to audition “live” it would be a good exercise to check these videos out. The reasons for so much of the advice about auditioning that you have read here at CC are made clear in these videos. Count all the Millies and the Eponines. Decide if the song is suitable for the singer’s “type.” Pretend you’re behind the desk. This could be very educational. Thanks for the link, Michelle616!
