Brooklyn College BA MD vs Hofstra 4+4 BS MD School of Med Program

Ok, so I haven't really seen this comparison anywhere, probably because the Hofstra program is so new. I was wondering if anyone could perhaps elaborate on the pros and cons of these similar NYC programs. Also if anyone could tell me how many people are typically accepted to each program that would be great!

by the way, hofstra isn’t in NYC. it’s in nassau county but it’s like 10 minutes from queens.

brooklyn college is linked with SUNY downstate medical center, which has been around for more than 100 years.

while hofstra is linked with the Hofstra- North Shore LIJ School of Med on it’s campus as well as various institutes in Manhasset. the med school is very new and will be increasing the amount of seats each year till they reach 100.

brooklyn ba/md interviews 90 and accepts 15. last year hofstra ba/md accepted around 6.

Lol, oops I know its in Long Island, my bad. So I am still confused as to which I would choose…

Guys, I don’t understand the ‘Interview’ thing. What’s that?

Since Hofstra is SUCH a new medical school, I would go with the Brooklyn program. Downstate has very good match rates, especially for kids in the program. Downstate has better connections with the city. On the Brooklyn BS/MD site, I saw that a few kids got matched to Columbia-affiliated schools, among other prestigious programs. Pedigree doesn’t matter if you are not going into academic medicine, but this is pretty kick ass [url=<a href=“http://depthome.brooklyn.cuny.edu/bamd/bamdmain.html]B.A.-M.D”>http://depthome.brooklyn.cuny.edu/bamd/bamdmain.html]B.A.-M.D.
