Brooklyn Scholars Program

I was accepted into Brooklyn Scholars. I don’t know much about the program other than that it was one of the first honors program in CUNY. The acceptance letter said that I was chosen from 300 applicants. I had a few questions about the program.
-Typically how many students get accepted?

  • How does it compare to Macaulay @ CUNY Brooklyn?
-Can students in scholars take the same courses as those in the BA-MD program?
  • What benefits does scholars offer?

Hi, I was also accepted and went to their accepted students dinner. I was able to talk to both Macaulay students and Scholars kids. Both programs sound similar. But Macaulay is full tuition, Scholars is $4,000 scholarship (Brooklyn’s tuition is around $5,000). Macaulay kids get $7500 for study abroad, Scholars don’t. But there are only 20 students in the Scholars program and there are scholarships set aside for us to use on study abroad, you just have to apply. All the scholars kids I’ve talked to said that they have studied abroad on scholarships. Some of them have even gone 3 or 4 times.

Both Macaulay and Scholars get a laptop (Macbook I think), early/priority registration for classes, separate seminars, and separate advising.

Hope this helps :)
