So my older brother got into Harvard for undergrad next year and I was wondering - does having an older sibling in an Ivy help increase your chances if you meet the qualifications for Harvard as well?

yeah I heard parents are considered legacies but I wasn’t sure about siblings - he’s the oldest sibling and the first in the entire family to get accepted (my parents didnt go to Harvard)

At Harvard, you are not considered a legacy unless one of your parents attended the school. There is a Harvard Crimson article that I saw a while ago in which William Fitzsimmons, the Dean of Admissions, was quoted confirming that.

Yeah I read that too! guess it won’t increase my chances by much then since he won’t be considered a legacy
