**Brown Class of 2020 RD applicant thread**

@Wendelstein i sent it beginning of march and they replied telling me to upload it to my app

I sent some stuff in mid-February and got a very nice email from an admissions officer saying it would be added to my file

Just noticed that a period in my supplement got changed to a comma… I read this essay like 50 times, how could this happen? :))

@acorn1216 hey, I also applied to BRDD, do you know if we get notified of our decision to the program on ivy day? Or do we have to wait a little bit more?

hey everyone, does anyone have the “Personal Information” tab on selfservice. brown. edu (remove spaces)? Under the tab, a message pops up saying “These options are intended only for enrolled Brown University students.” I have one friend who does not have the tab whatsoever and two friends who have the tab and message as well. Do you guys think this means anything? Also, could people with LL’s check as well to see if there is any correlation?

@nearea I have a personal information tab on mine. I did not receive a likely letter and if I were accepted it would be a statistical anomaly to say the least, so I do not believe there is any correlation.

I have the tab… @nearea

@nearea, I’ve had the tab ever since I set up my Brown account. I don’t think this signifies anything. (Sorry to disappoint.)

Could someone link me to the applicant status page? I can’t seem to find it.

selfservice.brown. edu

can students who received LLs share their stats? especially international students pls…

@efebrkn I don’t think it’s just a matter of stats. I mean, my grades and scores are great, but if they just chose LL people based on stats there would still be hundreds, if not thousands, of candidates. I think it’s more a question of fit; that’s what I really emphasized in my supplements, and I think it came through. I got a LL without winning tons of national awards or taking every AP; I don’t know if this could even be a predictor of other Ivy acceptances, because I feel like my LL really reflected my connection to Brown.

@nearea I got a LL and I don’t have a personal information tab.

@DefineHuman - If the upload option is still there, and you’re wanting to make sure you don’t leave anything in your tank, why wouldn’t you go ahead and upload it? And send an email letting them know the significance.

@nearea @BrownieNgineer I doubt if I’ll get in, but I don’t have a personal information tab either.

For those who don’t have the personal info tab, has it been like that from the beginning or only recently has that tab been removed?

@bamba26 It was confirmed in last year’s thread that the personal information tab appears only for people who applied financial aid and is otherwise meaningless.

Can everyone do me a solid and go to your portal, click the financial aid tab, then undergraduate students, and check if their is an option that says “Upload Financial Aid Documents”. I distinctly remember that option randomly appearing sometime in mid-February. It’s probably meaningless but it’s been bugging me for a while. I think some posters have said that it was there for them, but can we have a few more people confirm whether or not they have this option?

Thanks

Thanks @RightHand and yes, I do have that ‘Upload Financial Aid Documents’ option.

I disagree with @lz57c4 's advice for @DefineHuman to upload a 20 pp. paper for Brown to consider. *That’s poor advice in JANUARY much less March 27! * No one is going to look at a 20 pp. paper. In all circumstances, applicants with significant published works should submit a one page synopsis with a URL link or citation.

But really, it’s four days away. Right now, they are finalizing the last few dozen on the fence if any at all.

Thank you both for the advice. :slight_smile:

Hypothetical: what if I’m one of those applicants they’re on the fence about? University applications are generally geared towards high school seniors/recent graduates, and most of what they’ve reviewed within my application concerns interests, achievements, and past-times that are no longer relevant to me—nor were they all that impressive, especially considering the the time spent since.

(Yes, I only found out about the RUE program last month)

Not a hypothetical: I’ve already sent both the document and the e-mail, in fairness to you this happened before you posted. Worst case scenario is they’ve already rejected me, and learning of this submission would cause an eye-roll and a snub. Best case is they read a single page and use that in their deliberation, ignoring any issues of propriety with regards to submission format/mode.

I’m just hoping that I’m not, y’know, blowing an air horn in their ear, or something.
