**Brown Class of 2020 RD applicant thread**

@tuty143

Dear ###,

The admission committee has thoroughly reviewed your application. Due to the large number of highly qualified applications, I am very sorry to let you know that we will not be able to offer you admission to the Brown’s class of 2020 at this time. However, given your academic and personal achievements, we would like to offer you a place on our waiting list.

Please understand that no one can judge you as a person or student based on this decision. This year, we received one of the most competitive applicants pool and …

We wish you all the best during your future college education.

Dean of admission.

(I prefer to get rejected rather than waitlisted but this is my feeling right now )

@Monster1997 No no! letters to yourself that are encouraging! aka “I know this may seem like the end of the world…but…” or “FREAK THE **** OUT YOU GOT IN!!”

Anyway, let’s share the taughest and kindest rejection letters you received so far, if any. For me it’s just like that.

Kindest : Duke
Taughest : MIT

Nicest rejection: Duke by far. That was honestly a very comforting rejection.

Meanest: Northeastern. Not even a sorry.

(MIT was in the middle. Not as nice as Duke but at least they apologized…)

It was the taughest for me because it was the first one, and I considered it as a dream

@Yikeees i applied to Northwestern ED, and thought I was the perfect candidate… Imagine that being the first letter you received, too. It was awful.

How many LL go out for Brown?

Duke was the hardest for me to take b/c it was my first and top choice (ED). Right after I got flooded with rejections and quickly submitted an app to my friendly neighborhood community college. All’s well, though, because I got a reprieve and got in to a couple of schools on my short list.

Still, I am hoping for my one Ivy to come through. :)>-

Duke was the nicest for me while Johns Hopkins was the most unapologetic

@cologirl About 300 total - 150 as athletes and 150 as non-athletes (i suppose academics)

I think Northwestern was the hardest for me.

@Monster1997 yeah same. First one I got also and it was by far my number one choice. Ugh oh well…

MIT and Stanford will be my first choices for my graduate school. I wasn’t fortunate enough to get into them this year! :frowning:

Thanks @gongtd1

@cologirl they probably got called to say they are off a waitlist

refreshing this thread every 5 min nbd

At this point I’m hoping for a waitlist because then it’ll be contingent on how many people will actually enroll to see if they can call me.

I would take being wait listed too, but then the agony continues…

Me too @seveneleven29 a lot of the people who applied at my school are more qualified than I am and most probably won’t even attend

@graceann it’s honestly people like that who kill me. I know at least 3 people from my school with a higher rank than me who only applied because it’s “an easy Ivy to get into/be at.” No discussion on the actual substance of the school.
