Brown Class of 2022 Deferred Thread

I don’t know if I can wait until March, doing this waiting game all over again

Ugh, so you are going to rewrite your essays? You really think that is what it comes down to?

@giantoctopus I mean, what more can I do at this point?

@stormszn The official Facebook page we found a while ago (since deleted by the admissions office) said that 775 were accepted

Also, a close friend of mine just got into Yale. This is so hard.

Okay, so I’ve formulated a plan for myself. Right now- work on other applications. Next month? Resume my robotics education project, test it in as many classrooms as possible, apply for grants, make a website, a documentary/video showing the actual impacts in the classroom, and send it all to Brown as well as my other schools as “supplemental information.” I was going to do those things over the rest of this year anyway, but I’m going to really amp it up and do it in as little time as possible so I can show it to schools. Also, my grades are really bad at school right now, so I desperately need to fix them so they don’t damage my RD chances. I’m still really devoted to getting into and going to Brown, and I have lots of work to do.

i’m so sad wow, i don’t even know what to say. i really thought i had a shot and now i feel like i’m not good enough for any ivy

the worst is the wait for april

As for backup schools, my list is still changing, but right now it’s (yes it includes some schools that are more selective than Brown), stars for schools I think are good matches :
Stanford, MIT, Cornell, Columbia (maybe… don’t love the core, do love the research and departments offered and the prospect of living in NYC), Tufts, Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Carnegie Mellon, Toronto, UBC… need more match schools because then we have the ones I already applied to, Berkeley, UCLA, Davis, UCSD, and safeties UMN and ASU

mine are cornell, penn, wesleyan, nyu, vassar, smith, hamilton

i wonder how many people from the waitlist get in

didn’t they say that the chances of being accepted as an ED deferral are about the same as the chances of being accepted as an RD applicant?

the deferral has got me really freaked out so ive added a ton of schools to my list ahhhh

I was deferred too. It sucks that we all have to go through this but at least we aren’t alone.

Peeps. Since hearing I was deferred from Brown, I have eaten half a large pizza and 7 mozzarella sticks. Then I had a dance party with my friends and drove around singing taylor swift. All and all a solid thursday night! Time to get to studying for AP Stat test tomorrow yaaheaarrddddd

Hi guys! I got deferred too and it sucks ass (I cried for an hour) and the waiting will suck too but at least now we get to see all the amazing schools we can get into which we wouldn’t have if we had committed to brown! I am so shocked at how many qualified people got deferred but hey we are all in this together right? (Sorry HSM moment)

@dc4235 Yesss. Though tbh my confidence plummeted today, I’m lovin the positive vibes.

2,318 deferred. That feels good :/.

738 accepted—big difference from the 775 that was previously on their FaceBook page.

@sciencenerd123 part of me wonders if during the last week or two while they were not releasing a date, they had decided to cut back on admits and to choose some to turn into deferrals so their ED rate would not look so much higher than the RD rate… but maybe I just like that idea because it suggests that you or I or other people in this forum could have originally been chosen as admits and may have a higher chance to get in RD

^ i wondered the same thing
