Brown, Jhu, Tufts, Dartmouth, Mcgill for Bio

I have just been accepted into those four collages, and I'm wondering where to go really, since I have no opportunity to visit the schools in person. I'd like to consider social life, quality of curriculum and surrounding areas. I intend to go to a veterinary graduate school, so I gather a good biology course with animal interactions. So which one should it be?

Brown, JHU, Tufts, Dartmouth or McGill?

with much appreciation!

They're all excellent. Tufts does take preference for its own students when considering admissions for the vet school though. There might be even an early admissions program as a sophomore like the MD early admissions program, but I'm not positive.

how about mcgill? how is their quality of education... plus i get exposure to animals there since they have an agri centre?

Not sure about McGill, but I would go to Brown or Dartmouth just because of a better lifestyle. You will likely get a better GPA, and they are excellent feeders into professional schools. You dont need to worry about the "bio program" at this level, these are top schools. They will all have very similar placement levels (JHU, Brown, Dartmouth).

I could only imagine going to Mcgill out of these schools if money is an issue. The other three are so much better.

The info that snuffles stated is correct- there is a early admissions program to Tufts vet school during your sophmore yr. You can check their site for more info.
Like zagat said, is money an issue for you? If it is, then Mcgill would be the best place. It is a well respected school, but it is HUGE! And canadian schools tend to have grade-deflation, which may be an issue wehn applying to vete school.
I would go to Brown,Tufts, or Dartmouth.

I agree with JAP. The thing with Tufts though is you have to maintain a very high GPA, which is high enough that you could get the same GPA at Brown or Dartmouth and get in anyway to Tufts or another top Vet program. My vote: Brown or Dartmouth.

thanks a lot for your help :) I thinking really of edging towards brown, depending on the financial aid they give. I've got 29k from dartmouth (all i asked for) so we'll see about brown but i heard they're really stingy

Cool, both are awesome. I had to choose between Brown and Dartmouth too, and it was one of the hardest choices I had to make. I'll give you my IM if you want to talk (I choose Dartmouth and have hung out at Brown a bunch of times.) I honestly think they are the two coolest schools out there.

yes please do! you can drop me a private note. I'd like to have a personal view.

I'm an international student, so it's going to be pretty expensive, exchange rates and all. sigh!

McGill is one of the best in Canada but can't compare to America's top dozen research universities in science. Brown, Dartmouth and Tufts are not on the same level as Johns Hopkins in terms of faculty quality in biology, laboratories, or opportunities for undergraduate research.
The social life at any college is what you make of it. If I were truly passionate about biology, Johns Hopkins would be my clear pick. If I were undecided, I'd pick Johns Hopkins or Brown. I like that neither college has a core and that there's plenty of academic freedom at both schools. Johns Hopkins has great humanities programs, and the freshman class at Hopkins is smaller than it is at Brown- so students may receive a bit more attention at Hopkins. I also think there are more social opportunities at a city school and that's a big reason I wouldn't consider Dartmouth as much. Congratulations on your acceptances!
