Brown/John Hopkins Chances

Hello, I’m an incoming high school junior. I’ve visited various colleges in the past year or so and I LOVE Brown and John Hopkins. I’m a straight-A student, top of the class at this point, and do a ton of extra-curricular activities. I will be taking the SATs and SAT subject tests this year. Assuming my essay and interview are up to par and I get at least a 2100 on the SAT’s what are my chances:

4.27 Weighted GPA (will go up this year because of AP/honors classes… there were no AP’s offered in my freshman and sophomore years in high school and only two honors classes in each year)
4.00 Unweighted GPA
Class Rank: Not specified in transcript at my school but there are around 220 students in my class and I am definitely top 5%. Out of 28 semester grades so far, I have 25 A’s and 3 A-'s (Freshman Wellness, Debate, and first semester Adv. Eng II)

Freshman Year (no AP’s or honors classes available in history, foreign language, or english):
-Honors Geometry
-Honors Bio

Sophomore Year (no AP’s or honors classes available in history, foreign language, or english)
-Honors Chemistry
-Honors Algebra II
-Adv. English II
-Adv. French IV

Junior Year Schedule (upcoming year):
-AP Bio
-AP English (language)
-AP US History
-Honors Pre-Calc
-Honors French V
-Study Hall
-Music Appreciation

(is my junior schedule not rigorous enough?)

Senior Year Schedule:
-AP Chemistry or Honors Physics (haven’t decided yet)
-AP Music Theory
-AP Psych
-AP Comparative Government
-AP English (literature)
-AP Stat or Regular Calc (haven’t decided yet)
-Study Hall

Extra-Curricular’s:
-Debate Team (captain junior/senior year) (9-12)
-Mock Trial Team (captain senior year) (10-12)
-Euro-Challenge Team (national semi-finalist) (10)
-Model U.N. Team (10-12)
-Tennis Team (10-12)
-Guitar (6-12)
-Pipa (a Chinese lute instrument that is very unique and that very few other people play - perhaps something unique on my resume that others will be attracted to? I’ve already had meetings with the MIT music department about this and my teacher is Wu Man, the most famous and recognized player in the world) (3-12)
-Saxophone (4-10)
-Assets Team (11-12)
-Very likely National Honor Society Inductee (will run for president senior year)

Experiences:
-Trip to Spain (6)
-Trip to China (10)
-Trip to Switzerland (8)
-Trip to Turkey (8)

Music is what I have to offer besides academics. I have played guitar since 6th grade and pipa since 3rd grade and saxophone from 4th grade until last year, when I dropped it. I can play music at a high level, am in a band, have written upwards of 10 original songs, and have played with Wu Man and several Silk Road Project members. I plan to double major in poly-sci and music.

I don’t chance people, but I did want to point out that there is an “s” at the end of John Hopkins…John(s) Hopkins University. It’s an important thing to know if you plan on applying there and writing essays about the school. Best of luck to you!

I know someone who consistently misspelled it, and it was his first-choice school. We all had a laugh, but I doubt that was the deciding factor in his decision. Still, I wouldn’t put it past them to have a big pile of “auto-rejects” for people who do just that.
