Brown or Dartmouth

Okay, so I hoped to get into one of these schools. They were tied for number one on my list. I have never visited Brown yet, but I am next week finally. I love what the college has to offer me (esp. flexibility), but I also love Dartmouth. (I visited this past summer) I know a little bit more about Dartmouth, but I want to make sure that I don’t give up Brown.

Can anyone help me?

Haha told you this thread always comes up! (was my choice too!, and I think modestmelody’s as well)

Personally I would say Dartmouth. It is smaller and provides a more intimate and individualized experience. Lots of attention and opportunities for research. Brown is good, amazing actually, but I personally think Dartmouth provides a better experience.

Brown is too big.

I think that you’ll find both slipper and I, coming from each side of this discussion, would agree that personal attention is something you’ll get used to at both Brown and Dartmouth and is not a differentiating feature between either.

i just read the link. seriously guys thanks!

Which one are you choosing/leaning towards?

I still have no idea. I haven’t been to Brown yet, so I’m visiting over Spring Break. I like different things about both colleges. I need to choose what’s more important. :)

tough choice :/

My D loved Dartmouth , did not get accepted.she loved the non cutthroat atmosphere, the town itself. They say on the tour it is the highest percentage of people who marry each other. Not that we were looking for that just , it seemed an indicater of how the students got along with each other. It depends on what setting you want, city or rural? Brown would have less snow. Either way you can’t go wrong, just visit each and go with your gut. Both are academically excellent.

Brown and Dartmouth are my two favorites ivies followed by Yale. But Brown, aaaahhhh
I am just in love with Brown…

You have to visit both of them. No way around that.

you’ll probably get a gut feeling after visiting both
i went to brown, my brother went to dartmouth

both schools are awesome, but i think brown is the greatest place on earth :)

Brown is a great school and I always thought it would be at the top of my list. I had had a non-traditional high school experience and thought Brown would be a natural fit for me given its open curriculum. After visiting a number of schools including Princeton, Yale, Williams and Brown and, after having been a student at Harvard University’s Extension School, I chose to apply to Dartmouth ED and was accepted. There were many things that attracted me to Dartmouth, the palpable school spirit, the feel and natural beauty of the campus, the D Plan and the remarkable off-campus opportunities, the Women in Science program and D’s seeming focus on undergraduates. I am in my first year at D and love it. Most do. The best thing about Dartmouth for me (and there are many things to like) are my peers – they are fun, funny, talented and amazingly supportive.

It’s a tough call as both are terrifc schools. Best of luck.
