Brown or Yale? Help

i would say none of them..

why..?? i jus made a post..

"I don't really favor Ivy leagues.. they might get good students and rank first but they still lack behind.. for ex. US News might rank Harvard/Princeton Best in US and also rank them or others best in medicine or best medical schools based what the college and students say. The real results are from NUMBERS, the national exams etc.. Washington University in St. Louis according to AMA and Board of Medical Examiners is ranked #1 in US with highest MCAT scores for like 7 years in row..(thats the oldest data i could find..). And as per this years LSAT's NYU ranked #1.. also for GMAT's Uni of Chicago #1 (6yrs in row..) I don't really know whats the buzz about IVY League.. and as per USMLE results.. State Universitys rank first.. again.. I really don't see why ppl make big deal about Ivy League etc..

NOTE:- All data based on this year's (2006-2007) scores.""

thanks guys anyone else

navijation, where are you getting these stats from? From what I've seen, Harvard at 166 had the highest LSAT avg of any school and NYU wasn't even close at 158 with at least 25 schools ahead of it. Most people take the GMAT years after graduating, so can't even imagine that's so concisely kept as a stat. While GMAT isn't that large a factor in MBA admissions, the fact that Harvard, Yale, Princeton are so much higher in % of their class going to top professional schools according to the WSJ survey and that UChicago's SAT avg is a fair bit lower than many other schools makes this hard for me to believe.

NYU definetely does not have the highest average LSAT scores

The highest LSAT scores are some combination of HYPSM, Duke, Dartmouth, Amherst, Brown, and MIT - no NYU in there.

There was a source somewhere...

for those of you who need to check.. visit your local Board of Examiners and ask for a copy of this years review.. published by Law School Council.. and for your info.. NYU ranked first w/ 176 Harvard second w/ 175.. this years top 10 by Law School Council(administer of LSAT) were:-
NYU, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, U Chic, Northwestern, U Penn, U Virg, Georgetown

As per MCAT.. check this years AAMC review and Board of Examiners.. Washington Uni of St. Louis ranked and has been ranking #1 in 7yrs..

As per GMAT.. this years review published by GMA Council (administer of GMAT) Uni. of Chicago ranked first and has been ranking # in like last 6 yrs..

Now.. i got my sources now tell me whats the buzz about Harvard Law and Business School etc.. Its just the name.. stereotypes.. and wht ppl.. think..

DO NOT RELY ON INTERNET SOURCES.. IF YOU WANT TO ARGUE, STATE A PRINTED SOURCE (AS I DID.. STATEd SOURCE BY PEOPLE WHO COME UP W/ AND GRADE THE STANDARDIZED TESTS - GMAT, LSAT, MCAT)

and as per students going to top schools, don't forget its the NAME and for some its the MONEY..

And as per WSJ's saying don't forget its the same WSJ that published "THE PRICE OF ADMISSION: How America's Ruling Class Buys Its Way into Elite Colleges -- and Who Gets Left Outside the Gates" and by the way.. out 100% individuals who themself/their families etc. made a contribution to IVY League colleges got in.. (Its a Fact..) and 10% of them are or were only legible as of the uni/college standards of sat's/acts/gpa etc..

I have found that it is absolutely ridiculous to think that you are certain that you "can get" into any of these schools. After the rollercoaster experience of my application process ( and my friends' ) i will tell you that it is all crap shoot. It will be wise for you to remember that. I attended a top notch private high school and the top students ended up applying roughly to the same schools ( all ivies and top colleges ) Anyone who got into ANY of the ivies got admitted also into schools like Georgetown, U of Chicago and Duke. However, the crossover admissions to the ivies were totally unpredictable. Students admitted to Yale (three of them ), Princeton (two of them), Cornell, UPenn, and Columbia were all rejected from Brown. Only one student was accepted to Brown ( who was also admitted to Harvard and Dartmouth)....so go figure!

You should apply ED/EA to the school you would really like to go to. I would tell you that your chances for either one are .....dismal......Good luck!

Navijation, are you kidding me - did you seriously just state that the average LSAT from an NYU student applying to law schools is a 176?

That would be ridiculous, thats so high...maybe you mean average LSAT for law school admits?

Navijation,..u need help. The reason students want to attend the ivies is not for stats, ranking and numbers alone. When you attend one of these schools you are being part of "history". The feel of the buildings, architecture, resources, libraries, campuses, art, powerful people and influential people is all part of the EXPERIENCE.

Stop drowning yourself in bitterness. The ivies are among the oldest, most prestigious, elitists universities in the WORLD. Anyone would be way proud of sharing in the experience.

Are you talking about LSATs with respect to the undergraduate institution (e.g. Amherst), or the law school (e.g. NYU both ways, or Boalt Hall)

can we steer away from all the LSAT talk and get back to the issue at hand can anyone try to persuade me to go to one school or the other citing specific examples thanks

Make a list of pros and cons for each school. The school with the most pros/least cons is the one I would apply EA to.

Other than that, just go with your gut.

Also, remember to prepare applications for other schools just in case.
