After the holidays! :( Oh well, I guess I'll just finish the other ones until then. Thanks for checking with admissions!

From what I've heard, sometimes they wait until final transcripts are in to make a final decision, but it is not the routine. Though one of the other sophmore applicants may know better.

nspeds, this would be your second time transferring, if you get into Brown and go right? If you're at Georgetown now, what was your first school?

nspeds, if i dont mind asking you, where ru applying to, just curious, and also, maybe u can shed some light, but doesn't it hurt to transfer a second time, that is what i heard

Ah, so you will either apply or you won't. I know I'm applying, but my decision will be based on the results, regarding whether or not I'll stay where I currently attend.

h, so you will either apply or you won't

My current concern is with obtaining recommendations and going through the hassle of requesting three transcripts for each institution, in addition to SAT scores.

It is not that I cannot obtain recommendations, it is that I spent the last half year building a relationship with my professors, and I do not want to convey the impression that it is of instrumental importance to me.

I will disclose the schools once I have more time to deliberate. If I apply, Brown will definitely be among the schools to which I will submit an application.

As far as I know, the Brown application has remained unchanged for the past two years. The personal statement portion (part 3) has one 500 word essay, An essay-type itemization of your extracurriculars, a two or three line essay (who interested you in Brown?), and a paragraph long essay (Tell us about the academic areas which interest you most and your reasons for applying to Brown.) If you want a pdf for reference purposes, I can send it to you.

i sent an email today to the admissions dept. regarding this and they replied that the apps went to the printer today and should be received in a couple weeks.

however, if u have done more than 1 or 2 of these transfer aps, the questions are either the exact SAME or worded in another way, or it just has different preferences for length

and given that they're taking so long to send out the transfer application itself, I can't help but feel like these guys are trying to make transfer applicants jump through as many hoops as possible.

In the past two years, I've seen the Brown Admission Office put 01 March as its transfer deadline, but a couple of days before that, they change it on the website to 01 April.

I highly, highly, highly doubt that the deadline would be 01 February, solely because they routinely distribute the application around the middle of January and most schools, bearing US NEWS et al in mind, like to give applicants enough of a chance to apply to boost the number of applications it receives.

No school would ever offer such a narrow time frame for receiving and submitting an application, that would be entirely useless.
