Brown, UPenn and Cornell chances

I will be applying as a sophomore transfer to these schools as an architecture major/concentrator for fall 2018 entry.

*Current school is top 20/30 so I suppose the transfer is lateral

-Reasons to transfer: going to see if I can get better aid elsewhere; want a school with a more defined architecture program
-Applying for FA
-3.9175 college GPA
-4.0 high school GPA, valedictorian
-34 ACT superscore, 33 one sitting (don’t think this is as important for transfers, but UPenn superscores and Brown looks at highest subsections only)
-varsity athlete (going to reach out to coaches at these schools, not sure how recruiting works for transfers)

Do I stand a good chance among other transfers? I think it will come down to my essays. Guessing that applying for aid will hurt too, since transfer admission is need aware, but, that being said, my need is not very high.

Brown transfer rate hovers around 10 to 15%, Penn around 10 to 12%, and Cornell around 20%.

Bump! Added Columbia, Yale and Rice into the mix.

@potentialtransfer2018 yes, you have good chances for all other than Yale. HYPS is very difficult to transfer into, they take very few transfers.
you just need to articulate what these schools would offer over your current school. It needs to be something other than prestige. Btw for Penn the transfer acceptance rate has hovered around 8-10% for the past 5 years.

@Penn95 thanks for the reply! The schools to which I’m applying all have much more developed architecture programs than my current school – that’s my main reason for transferring.
