I am fortunate enough to have the possibility to attend either Cambridge or Brown to study engineering. I know Cambridge has a better for engineering but Brown relatively small department offers more research opportunities. Student life is also important to me but I am not sure how both compare. What do you guys think?
Not much to go on. I think you will have to work this out for yourself. Where are you from?
Hey I also got into Brown and Cam (for languages) and I’m deciding soo hmu
are you leaning towards one more than the other? also what college???
Today I’m leaning more towards Brown, on Friday it was Cambridge. I’m still waiting for FA to come through, and that will ultimately be the deciding factor. King’s college!! Hbu
Hi guys! I am facing a similar decision between Harvard, Yale, and Cambridge (King’s College!!!). I’m planning to study architecture but really have no idea which school to choose.
@Archaficionado Idk about architecture, but I would personally go for Yale.
This decision is too difficult… i’m at pembroke!
I’m also deciding between Cambridge and Brown, but I would do Cambridge if I were you it’s the top in the world by almost any rank
I would imagine a helpful question to answer first is: do you want a career in the US or the UK?
Congrats to both of you making this decision (if you haven’t already made it…)
Brown and Cambridge are so startlingly different as student experiences- not just in the obvious English/US ways, but in the course structures. One is seriously prescribed, subject-intense: you will do all-engineering (languages), all the time. The other is a major- a heavier than average major for engineering, but nonetheless designed to allow you courses outside the major, especially in the first 2 years. IMO, that is the first and biggest answer to the ‘which’ question: do you want to take anything besides engineering (or language, for the other poster) classes? Yes = Brown. No = probably Cambridge.
Thank you for the input! I am almost certain I will go to Brown even if I make the conditional offer at Cambridge. Yes, I know Cambridge is better ranked in engineering but rankings are also often based on irrelevant things. I am certain I will get a excellent education at Brown and perhaps be a more “well-rounded” and creative engineer. Of course, Cambridge is also a fantastic experience!!!
