Brown Vs. Cornell Pre-Med

Hi.. I'm pretty stuck between the two. They both have their + and -s .. What I am considering is location, gpa, classes, program, admission rate.. ?

If you are going for Brown do PLME - it takes a lot of stress away as you don’t have to apply for medical school after your undergraduate education. As for pre med at Brown vs Cornell I would have thought they are both about equal

Maybe you should worry about getting in first.

(Out of the two, Brown > Cornell for premeds without a doubt)

Brown !

Brown doesn’t!

Either one is fine. Choose based on which one is the better fit for you. To those of you who said Brown is better, what do you base that on? I can see no reason why one school would be better than another.

Check out the pre-med forum for answers to questions like this:

Have you gotten into both of them or are you just speculating? Both are great schools, and I’m sure both would prepare you equally well for med school, and both probably have similar med school acceptance rates (above the national average, i’m assuming). So, you should focus more on which school is the better fit for you. Could you see yourself making friends with the students? Do you like the surrounding area? How are the non science courses (you don’t need to major in a science to go to med school)?

If anything, I might argue that Cornell is better for Pre-Med’s. Not that it’s a better school or anything at all related to that, but simply the fact that I’ve seen a few posts in the Brown forum about some of the pre-reqs for med school being mandatory P/F. Since they have to be taken for a letter grade, that makes things a little more difficult when choosing courses.

Just food for thought.
