Hello everyone, recently I’ve had the pleasure of being admitted into both Brown and Cornell. However, I’ve had a bit of trouble deciding between the two. I’m planning on majoring in economics with the hopes of landing a spot at a pretty good law school (I know both are very doable from either of these schools.) Another passion I wanted to pursue was environmental science, which I think Cornell has a better program for. As of now, I’m leaning towards Brown because of the open curriculum and location mainly. Financial aid for both schools are the same. Anything else I should be considering?
I think if you prefer the open curriculum and location of Brown, those two fit variables are in Brown’s favor.
Other things to consider are social vibe (things to do, greek life, sports, clubs…) , housing/food, access to profs/class size, research opportunities as applicable, campus size and convenience, and cost (though you say they are similar).
I would consider talking with current students or alumni to ask what they think are the pros and cons of their respective school. It can be helpful to get this perspective from someone who actually attended. I would also recommend visiting each school again if you are seriously torn between them; focus on which school makes you feel at home and like you could belong there.
VASTLY diff vibes. Cornell better dept. you’re aiming in. visit both and decide.
