Hey guys, just heard back from Brown and now I am having a really hard time choosing. I wanted to go with NWU when I first heard back from it, cuz I love its communication studies major but Brown is an ivy league after all. And I am not entirely sure about comm studies. But definitely going with an social science major in either school.
And Barnard, its a really great college with the resources of Columbia. And I LOVE NYC…I really need some advice. Thank you!
I mean, you can’t go wrong. If all three choices are equal: ie, finances are equal at all three (are they?), then you get to focus entirely on fit. You’re going to get pretty different experiences with each of them. So I would start getting very specific… what would your exact major be, and are there specific professors/courses you’re really excited about? Are you able to visit each campus and see how you feel there? Do you want to live in Chicago, NYC or Providence? (and part of that: how much $$$ do you have, b/c NYC is infinitely more enjoyable if you are wealthy) Personally I wouldn’t let location bewitch you too much–I would really focus on campus & specific opportunities at each school, and what your gut is telling you about fit.
also consider lifestyle. It will be very different across the 3 campuses.
Yeah finance isn’t really a problem. No Financial Aid but my family could afford it lol. Heard a lot about Brown. It’s full of really wealthy kids from wealthy families, really laid back and no worries about career what soever. That might be exaggerated and I really would like to know if that’s true…
Yeah exactly it would make a huge difference when looking for interships
From what you have written, Barnard might be the school to beat in your group.
Wow, you don’t know too much about Brown then. They have 16% first generation students. Brown students started 1vyG last year for all first gen students. Their acceptance rate this year was 47% students of color, 50 states and 83 countries. I think it’s a pretty diverse school. If your parents can afford college without FA then you’re also considered rich.
I guess cuz I am the only child? But for internships Northwestern really beats Brown. These are really different schools and I really have no idea now…
Not entirely sure yet. I visited the campus and loved its setting!
