According to Wikipedia, one of the three jobs of Nicholas Brown, one of the cofounders who named the college after his son, was a slave trader.
Have they been protesting that and trying to get the name changed?

Many people have become extremely wealthy by exploiting other people. At least he did something worthwhile with his ill-gotten gains.
Don’t cross Brown off. And yes, this is happening at other Ivies and other selective schools.
Yes, it was/is silly season all over academia. @compmom, but this one is particularly silly because the kids don’t want to take responsibility for their choices. It’s OK to protest, but if one chooses to do so, one also chooses to accept the costs. They should distribute Thoreau’s piece on civil disobedience.
Could I request a safe space from well-intentioned silliness? Or would that be a microaggression or do I need to check my privilege.
Well I lived through the 60’s and early 70’s and the cost I paid was to not attend at all, at least for some years. I was not in danger of being drafted so I could afford that particular form of civil disobedience. I am more than impatient with this current crop of protesters, who want to join the establishment more than anything, not change it
There was a quote from old basketball coach Abe Lemons that has had many versions. One of which was something like this: A sportswriter asked him if the new rule allowing freshmen to play on varsity teams was going to put too much stress on the young men…they were 18, and balancing athletics and academics might be too much for them.
Lemons answered, “You know, when I was 18 and on my belly on Iwo Jima, I used to comfort myself with the idea that at least I didn’t have to balance athletics and academics.”

I am sure it happens with a small percentage of students at almost every school, but it makes a much better story if you can write the article about Ivy League students. Who would read an article about Kellogg Community College students acting stupid? lol
