Brush up Calculus before school starts?

I need help. I took AP Calculus BC in my junior year and got a 5 on the exam. This year I enrolled in AP Stat because all of my intended majors have a statistics requirement. You know, statistics is not a lot of math. So when I am placed in some higher level math class I am afraid that my math knowledge won't be fresh enough for it.

I have the same problem with science too. Is there any good way to brush up the material so I don't crash and burn in college? Thanks!

Sometimes the front of math books has review material. Are you going straight to an upper division science? If not, they usually don't expect you to remember everything from HS (at least they do at my school).

I also took BC junior year, but then I took multivariable senior year. I found the class very easy, even though I'd forgotten most of the calc. If you must review, just focus on the basic integration methods (u subst, parts, trig, log). I wouldn't worry about if though.

Calc is kind of like riding a bicycle for me--I don't forget the material even if I haven't studied it for a long time. Yes it's less fresh but when I actually start looking at problems/exams it comes back to me fairly easily.

Find a copy of the AP Calculus exam, take it, and read the sections of the textbook that pertain to the problems you don't remember how to do.

Then do more problems.

Will you have to take a math placement exam when you get to college? If so, then yes, brush up. Fizix2's suggestions sound good.

The placement exam is likely to be fairly simple, but if you're rusty on the basics of calc, you might find yourself placing into a lower class than you should. It's always possible to try and register for a higher class anyway, but without really knowing the course content, you might be wary of ignoring the placement results.

When my placement test came around, I remembered all the info, but I had to dredge most of it up out of the back of my mind, so I ended up running out of time and placing into a course 2 lower than I should have. Not really knowing what was covered in each class, I just figured that it was one lower and that I could use the brush-up. Lots of largely (though I admit, not totally) wasted time.

You don't need to stress over it. Just revise a little bit towards the end of the summer (or whenever the test is). If you have no placement test but are worried about needing your calc for higher math classes, you probably don't need to revise, but I recommend bringing your calc notes to school with you. Any calc that's necessary will be brushed over in the class (probably not broken down at all, but done within an example problem), which will probably trigger your memory. If it doesn't, you can flip to the necessary notes.
