Hey guys as AP tests are coming up, I wanted to check back on Bryn Mawr and how they award them. And it seems like they do things differently than most where getting good score DOES NOT mean you get placed out of intro classes. Instead students get awarded “Units” that count towards graduation. Bryn Mawr needs 32 units to graduate. So if I don’t necessarily get placed out of classes, what would be the point in taking these exams? And is it really true that you have couple thousand dollars by earning these units? Thank you so much!
"Students may receive credit for honor scores on Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, A-Levels, and other exams.
A maximum of 8 units from test and transfer credit may be used towards your degree (with the exception of transfer students who can use a maximum of 16).
Students may count this credit towards the 32 units needed to graduate, but not towards general education requirements. Credits will be posted to the student’s transcript as needed."

So, you get credits towards graduating so you could graduate sooner saving $$. Also read the very bottom of the page linked above. You can skip certain courses to advance to higher level classes or fulfill prerequisites. It’s actually a pretty generous policy.
you can also take bmc placement exams without fooling with AP exams if you don’t want to, and be placed at the right level (calc 1 or 2, physics 1 or 2, spanish 1,2,3, etc)
