DD was accepted with 30,000 per year scholarship! Congrats to everyone!
I was accepted! I’m so surprised and happy. I don’t mean to make any of the other students who were waitlisted or denied feel upset, because I know you’re all equally, if not more, qualified than me. My stats were more on the median end, so I think they must’ve looked more at my extracurriculars, letters of recommendation, and writing. Acceptances are so subjective, and none of us can know what made or broke our applications, but I know you’ll all do so well wherever you go. I would seriously suggest for students who were waitlisted to consider sending an additional letter in to your admissions counselor at the college explaining your continued interest to attend Bryn Mawr, why the specific college and community is right for you and how you could see yourself growing from it and contributing to it, and any new accomplishments or activities you’ve been working on. You could also try and get additional recommendation letters, and send in more writing samples or samples of art, music, science, math reports, or whatever your talent or passion is. I know a girl who was waitlisted from Barnard College in NYC, emailed a letter and writing (poetry and short stories, because she wanted to study English and Creative Writing at Barnard), and got in. I’m not saying this will definitely get you in, but I think showing that extra initiative will only help your case. If anyone wants to know what my writing to Bryn Mawr was like, or if you have any questions at all, you can e-mail me at meenat191@gmail.com, I’d be happy to help. I know I always see these “I got in” posts and have a hundred questions for them. Stay positive and I don’t want to sound condescending, I’ve definitely had my share of deferalls and waitlists, but believe in yourselves! I know things will end up better than ok.
Daughter accepted and all of us are thrilled but no way we can send her. Scholarship was only $12,000 and no mention of loans or work study. Disappointed but we will have to see the offers from other schools.
Congrats to all who got in!
Where did everyone find their merit scholarship info? @CValle @daffodilpetunia
Waitlisted. Anyone have any tips for improving my chances? This was my top choice.
@SemperAnticus See my detailed instructions in post #159 above. It is not that easy to find.
@meenat99 What a lovely post. I was also surprised my D got in - she is kind of average for BMC but not only got in, she got a great merit award and also travel money! We are just overwhelmed. But yes, I would say BMC is looking some else, not just grade and scores. My D’s are good, but not above BMC’s average. She got into several schools less competitive but got more merit at BMC.
@daffodilpetunia is that for merit as well? I found that (No fin aid) but am holding out hope that maybe I got some merit…
Yes our merit aid was listed in Bionic.
@SemperAnticus Yes, that was the only place we found my D’s merit award.
I got rejected. Big Congrats to those that got in
DD was accepted!! After being rejected by five schools, and waitlisted by three, this was happy news indeed. We know they consider the whole person because while she had great grades, solid extra curriculars, and her BMC supplemental essay was very good (the best one she wrote IMO), her test scores were good but not great.
We can’t access the financial aid info yet. She’s never been able to get into Bionic, and the new password they sent her doesn’t work either :(. She is getting up early Monday to call them (we live in HI, so there’s a six hour difference - ugh) and see if they can get that straightened out. Hopefully it will be close to the NPC.
Congrats to all the admits, and to those waitlisted or denied, continue to be positive. After the last couple of weeks know too well how it feels, and are sending all the good thoughts your way.
I’ve been waitlisted too. Congrats to those who got in.
i was honestly really surprised that i got accepted to bryn mawr. can’t explain my happiness through words though haha i’m so grateful and don’t know if i really deserved this. Also got really good financial aid!! :’)
@futurecohort13 if you got in, you deserve it the most of all! All the best girlfriend!!
This process is so, so tough! Hang in there everyone who didn’t get an answer they were hoping for. Things can really turn around very quickly.
@blowfish7494 I would contact your financial aid officer to see if there is anything they can do for you.
Does anyone know if you can interview with them (if you already haven’t) after being waitlisted?
ACCEPTED
Congratulations to everyone who was admitted! We are current students at Bryn Mawr. If you are considering pursuing a STEM field, we recommend a post we just wrote about the STEM experience at BMC: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/bryn-mawr-college/2068304-stem-at-bryn-mawr.html
