@skieurope thanks! Just wanted to check if there was a “best practice” for that type of thread. I also feel like someone who started here earlier than me should do the honors.
Ahhh, the meerkat effect of CC… Apple, you’re giving me a stress ulcer! I’ll be changing my name to OstrichMama.
Perhaps the BS class of 20xx pages should be pinned to the top. I remember class of 2018 thread was created but don’t know how many pages it is buried under. Seems that BS parents threads are much quieter compared to the Parents forum threads.
My 2017 kid was accepted ED today and…with an unexpected merit scholarship! Whew!
@carpoolingma Hooray! Congratulations… exciting times.
Congratulations, @carpoolingma! I wish it’s that easy for everyone.
@carpoolingma Congratulations! <:-P <:-P
YAY @carpoolingma, that is excellent news!! Congrats to carpoolingKid!!! =D>
Thanks all! We are very relieved and dd is so happy! @GoatMama , somehow it didn’t feel easy the last two or so years! I will say that dd had a clear favorite so she didn’t agonize over applying ED. Also, she went with fit rather than purely national prestige and with a college with a doable acceptance rate - not a lottery type acceptance rate! Still, lots of anxious tears etc during the process.
Good luck to all of the other 2017ers and the parents!
@carpoolingma , It must feel great for your daughter to have it DONE with much of the senior year left to actually enjoy! I hope results go as well for all the class of 2017…and of course for the class of 2018.
@carpoolingma very exciting! Glad she is happy with her choice and acceptance (scholarship is great too). Fit is so important.
So happy for you and DD, @carpoolingma. And DS is loving his school… Life is good for your family!
@twinsmama …and 2019 and 2020! LOL
@gardenstategal Yes, I want to hold on to this time right now! I love when it works out with both kids at the same time!
@carpoolingma, Congrats on the ED acceptance! It should be everyone’s dream.
DS was accepted at the Kelly School of Business at Indiana Univ with a merit scholarship and an invitation to its honor program. It was a part of its EA process (the school adopts a rolling admission policy). This got him more aggressive about his RD applications and he is waiting for ED decision.If ED fails, he will likely apply to NYU Stern (RD) and some LACs. He has already applied to Babson (EA).
Living in CA, I have no clue about the Kelly School and what the job prospect upon graduation has been like. Any advice will be appreciated.
Have left CC behind for much of the fall as our boarding school days begin to enter the rear-view mirror . . . but really glad to read these updates with whatever news, knowing it all works out fine in the end for everybody. ChargerKid2 is going for “fit”, but the darn thing is, if accepted, she will be going to the third school that older brother also attended (or fourth, if you count pre-school). Even though she articulates her reasons fine, it’s gotten to the point, with a few friends, that I just say we “require them to go to the same school together”. Sure has been convenient! ~O)
@jyc1230 , I understand from friends who work at IU that Kelly has a terrific reputation. It’s selective within IU and it is a goal of many gen ed students to transfer in but the requirements are tough. In my neck of the woods, it’s not as well known as Stern or Babson, for example, but the impression is that the degree is highly valued in the Midwest and by companies with a presence in that region . If the rest of the application process is a bust, your son will still be set. Congrats to him!
I have stupidly spent a good chunk of the afternoon perusing the ‘admitted student’ website for SoxBoy’s first choice college. Why do I say ‘stupidly’? Because he doesn’t in fact know yet if he got in, decisions come out on Friday. But I nonetheless can’t stop myself from looking at all the great information about orientation days, housing, etc, even though I have a terrible feeling that I’m jinxing him by doing so.
@soxmom Just two more days! Good luck to SoxBoy! Forgive yourself…I’m sure it is just nerves. It feels like you are doing something! (Can you tell that I have similar tendencies?)
Just saw that DS’s first choice school will post decisions on 12/15 - one more week. Another college that he is interested in will post around December 17 (whatever that means!). I’m ready for him to hear about these.
Good luck to everyone waiting for early decisions.
@gardenstategal, thank you so much for the info. That is a big relief. In fact, I have no idea on Babson as well. DS has been interested in majoring in business and made a college list almost by himself with a help from his guidance counselor. I heard Babson has an excellent reputation for its entrepreneurship program but I don’t know how well graduates get a job after. (What an ignorant parent I am!) He visited schools including Babson last March and liked the school. Anyway, thanks a lot!
@soxmom, I do that, too. DS is waiting for ED decision on 12/15 and I found myself looking at the website as if he had already been admitted. Good luck on Friday!
Good luck to everyone with ED/EA results! I can’t believe it’s time to wait for college decision. 3.5 years have passed by so quick while I still have the vivid memory of saying goodbye to DS on his first day at BS [-O<
