Thanks for the wise words, everyone. I don’t think any of the schools on his list have ED2, so it’s just on to RD applications. I spent a bit of time yesterday putting all the supplemental essay questions into a spread sheet, hoping to see some significant overlap in the questions (i.e., that essays he writes for one school could be adapted with relatively little effort to something for another school). Sadly, there were a lot of pretty esoteric prompts which are going to require new writing.
@soxmom and @Temperantia
Best of luck with the next round of applications!!
DD sent emails to admissions to withdraw applications after enrolling in her ED school. She got confirmation emails back but she still got a decision to one school in the mail and to another in a portal. The timing is such that it shouldn’t have overlapped. It’s odd.
I’m looking forward to picking up DD tomorrow for winter break. According to her, that’s not soon enough! Sounds like the tension and anxiety are peaking, as many are awaiting ED/EA decisions today and tomorrow.
@cameo43 Maybe that explains the very tense interactions I have had lately!
Wonderful news this afternoon, as ChargerKid2 will be following #1 to Boston. Maybe admissions paid heed to our “requirement” that they attend the same school Good luck the rest of the week, everybody!
WooHoo Congrats to ChargerKid2!! Great news. Now you can relax and enjoy the holiday celebrations! <:-P
Great news @Charger78. It is getting very cold in Boston today. Hope your older one listens to the weather. Don’t know if colleges send out the same notice about very cold weather that boarding schools do.
Happy for your jumbo family @Charger78 !
^^ haha, @MA2012 older one is, in fact, “weather challenged”, but messaged that he he had taken his econ exam and was scurrying to get under the covers for a long nap. Presumably toasted (??), or at least thawed out. And she, of course, was writing an in-class essay, thankfully for her advisor, when the email alert popped up to check the portal. Then used the advisor’s cell to text us the news and have me call her back on it (lousy reception and all)! Only at boarding school . . . ~:>
Congrats to Charger78 kid #2 from a fellow Jumbo. My daughter graduated BS last year and shared today that the time around ED/EA decisions was the most stressful time of her senior year. Hang in there everybody and stock up on peppermint bark and fuzzy socks!
Congratulations @Charger78 kid2!
We are DONE! D was admitted to WPI yesterday. She applied EA, and it was her top choice. She is SO happy, and I am SO relieved. (And quite glad this part is over! )
Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays to all… and best wishes for good news, to everyone who’s still waiting!
@cameo43 Congratulations! <:-P <:-P
Woohoo! Congratulations, @cameo43 and D!
Congrats @cameo43. I know a few kids who are very happy at WPI.
DS got an acceptance from a school he would be happy to attend, but deferred from his first choice (turned out as he expected), so he’s finishing up a few more applications.
@cameo43 Congrats to CameoDaughter! Super exciting news and I very happy for you both!
Well done, CameoDaughter, and smiles for @cameo43 !!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all, enjoying having our kids at home! The adventures continue, wishing the best to everybody in the New Year.
~O)
Congrats to all with exciting news! I am so thankful to have DD (and DS) home for the holiday break. It feels a bit surreal to no longer be waiting for college news. DD withdrew all her pending applications but I’m not sure if they have all been processed - she is still getting lots of emails and her info is still on the portals.
Happy holidays to everyone and best wishes for all the apps & decisions still to come in the new year.
So here I am eating my own words about the 2020 thread… @AppleNotFar
While I was thinking that GoatKid is wasting her Christmas break living in her bed, she apparently had set up a profile on one of the athletic recruiting websites, complete with stats, videos, essays, and potential majors; researched her colleges and developed a preliminary list of 32; wrote to coaches, received communications from a number of them, and responded back; and where was I all this time??? I surely was hoping to be more than an ATM and a chauffeur in this process! – feeling obsolete
