Hello! I was recently accepted into Boston University as a Graphic Design major at CFA. However, since turning in my application, I have become more interested in marketing and advertising. I looked at BU’s degree requirements for an advertising major and saw that there were many art related courses such as Art Direction and other courses that teach different design programs. On the other hand, I heard that the CFA programs are more fine-arts based, which I am not that interested in. If I am interested in the more “commercial” side of art, would it be a better choice to major in Advertising (with possibly a minor in Visual Arts) or just to stick with graphic design? I tried to do as much research as possible but I am not sure which degree would suit what I would like to do. Are there any distinctions between CFA and COM that can help me with this decision?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
