BU or GW... psychology?

im trying to decide between the two also! I dont know what to do...I think I like boston better as a city but GW better as a school...this is so hard

whatever you do, don't let anyone try to sway you on this thread. you should really just research and visit the schools and speak to different people in the psychology departments to make a clear, responsible decision.

Very true, indie evan. I agree that should be done. Personal impressions are the most important criteria on which to judge a school. This in mind, it's still important to address others' misstatements (to counter any illegitimate bias).

im deciding between bu and gwu too...but im more interested in studying business...for those of you who care, bu is ranked 56 in usnews and world report while gwu is ranked 52...so they're more or less similar, i would never choose a school because its just a few rankings higher...i'll definately visit and do tons and tons of research online...its a difficult choice, but one i feel lucky to have!

You can't go wrong with either choice. I personally LOVE GW and would go there in a heartbeat over BU. I visited both campuses and I like DC better and I think there's more opportunities for virtually any field in DC. DC has tons of corporations/businesses. Not only is it a big city, there's Arlington(a pretty large city) just over the river which offers lots of opportunity. For psychology, there's more internships available. There's more governmental agencies that need psych. majors.

If you are interested in International Business, GW would be awesome. It has a top 16 IB program and DC would be perfect for such a job.

For undergraduate business rankings, both BU and GW tie at 48.

The range is deceptive since the top 25% of any school can be 1 point above or 25. So I was quoting the avaerage SAT and they are for 04. I like both schools, one question I have about DC though is that it seems like there are a lot of slummy neighborhoods..does that sound slummy to say?...and that many people who work in DC live in the suburbs. It certainly has more diversity than Boston which is sorely lacking African Americans and Hispanics. I am assuming the GW area is in a good neighborhood though since you said it is near Georgetown. Is it walking distance to Georgetown? How is the public transporation around D.C. Is it safe?r

Oh...that was a good point about DC maybe offering more opportunities for Psychology internships in public or private agencies. I hadn't thought of that. Why don't you check out the BU and other boards on CC and the livejournal.com sites for GW and BU students. (BU has at least 3--BU08, BU09, Bunite.) GW must have a few too because of its size.

Yeah, GW is situated within walking distance of Georgetown. Foggy Bottom(GW's neighborhood) has the closest metro stop to Georgetown, so it's pretty close. And when I refer to Georgetown, I'm not referring to the university. I'm talking about the neighborhood.
