Looking for feedback on the BU Summer HS Honors Program for my rising senior.
Can the credit be applied to any University? How selective is this program?
My kid participated last summer as a rising junior. Kid enjoyed it, most classmates were BU students. Kid opted for a course that is a offered at many universities.
But it depends on what your kid’s goals are, and kids can change their focus. For example, Calculus for biological sciences or business majors simply won’t really help (credit wise) if your kid decides to go engineering school.
Caveat 1: Kid could not take 1st or 2nd choice due to those classes already being full.
Caveat 2: Kid’s 3rd choice, although a general college course, wasn’t as rigorous as the closest equivalent course offered at kid’s high school. (I knew it wouldn’t be, based on the course description, so I wasn’t surprised.) So it couldn’t be used to place out the high school course.
Also, the instructor was inexperienced, and there were BU students in the class who openly mocked the instructor and her accent.
