my file is finally completed :)

waiting for da decision :]

Okay, so, I’m still waiting to hear from a couple of schools but things aren’t looking up. If it turns out that nothing changes, the decision I need to make is this one:

1) Enroll at BU and take out loans for $21,000 for one year—hope that maybe next year because they’d be looking at my financial aid application earlier in the year, they’d give me more money? or do they usually stick to whatever they’ve given you in the past?

2) Enroll at NYU and take out loans for $38,000 for one year (probably not the best idea)

3) Emerson and take out $6,500 in loans for one year (with the knowledge that I will most certainly be unhappy–but there’s no way to know I’d be happier somewhere else, I suppose)

Does anyone have any advice? Does it make sense to take out more loans in hopes of being happier? I hope to go to grad/law school, and maybe I could somehow have my student loans “forgiven” by working a public service job, but that would probably take ten years of living at 150% of the poverty line…

My daughter had almost the same decision to make but had to choose between BU, Emerson and Northeastern. The $$ from both NE and BU was abysmal! The $ from Emerson was actually quite good. Since her interest is in broadcast journalism Emerson with its small class size was actually a better pick and not going $80,000 into debt made it that much easier. Good luck on your decision but with grad school/law school ahead I would keep my debt to a minimum!

Loan money isn’t always guaranteed, let’s say you go to BU or NYU and aren’t approved for the same loan again the next year…you’d be screwed.

canobbs it’d be greaaat to be able to compare stats. I’d getting anxious about my decision haha.

just got a request for spring grades, good or bad?

Ok. I’m a freshman at a small school on Long Island. I had a 3.65 gpa first semester and should have around a 3.9 this semester. Had a 1290 SATs and 600 on AP US. Around a 93 unweighted average in HS. Honors classes in HS and a few APs. Some ECs in high school and college.

I think thats about it. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

I am going to decline, is there any kind of waitlist for hopeful BU transfers? So that I can help somebody to enroll by leaving the spot?

Edit:BTW, Admitted for Economics major,CAS.

Got into school of engineering =)

Just got in to school of communications!

Here’s my stats:
I’m a freshman at a SC state school.
GPA: 3.79
HS GPA: 3.0 (unweighted, I took all honors)
Lots of EC’s
SAT’s: 1860

Still waiting Has anyone else heard back…?

Finally accepted for hospitality yesterday! attending :)

They finally received my spring grades a few days ago and I’m still waiting on a decision. Does anyone know if the decision will be posted online before mail notification or if they arrive at the same time? And about how long does it take after your application is complete (for people who were asked to submit spring grades) for them to make a decision?

scribistan, My son is still waiting to hear, as well. Do you think this is a kind of waitlisting?

buusey and twodown- This is my theory. They accepted and denied their clear choices and then their maybes they asked for spring grades and are evaluating the spots still open…buusey, I submitted my spring grades in mid-may and just heard back, HOWEVER they are making their deadline for decisions as the end of june. You will be notified via online status check before anything comes in the mail. Sit tight because you will hear back before July unless otherwise notified. Good luck!

Accepted a couple of days ago. Can anyone tell me when they send financial aid packets and if on campus housing is available to transfers? Also, who’s going to the transfer orientation at the end of July?
