BU vs Tulane

How do they compare academically, and socially?

I ended up choosing between BU and Tulane last year. It was a tough choice, and Tulane has a lot of things to recommend itself (New Orleans, the music scene, good academics, etc. plus they were pretty generous with financial aid/scholarships for me) but I ended up choosing BU. Though I really wanted it to just be a stereotype, I found that there was more basis than I liked to the rumor that Tulane can be kind of a party school for rich kids. And though I like to go out as much as any college kid, Tulane's party scene seemed a little out of control...Also, my parents were a bit concerned about safety in New Orleans post-Katrina (although Tulane's in a pretty safe area).
Academically, BU is stronger for my interests (International Relations, etc). About other departments, I'm not really sure. I also feel that people at BU tend to be more socially active/politically involved than is the norm at Tulane, but that's just my own take on it.

I dunno . . . casinos, unlimited drinking opportunities, party-town N'Orleans v. baked beans, the green line, and freezing weather . . .

Just a thought, but if you were still 18, which one would you choose.

Thank you "spinscratch ", for your thoughtful and insightful response.

As for My One And Only..You just wait till next year...

And Boston is not a party town?????? ANY school is a party school if that is what you want it to be!
