Hello everyone,
I’m a senior international high school student studying in California. I’m torn between BU and UCSD. I got into BU but got waitlisted to UCSD. My intended major for both colleges is Economics&Mathematics. I won’t qualify for that CA in-state tuition, so I’m paying the out-of-state tuition for UCSD if I end up going there. Money isn’t really a problem for my family; my parents just want me to have a good education. ($50K vs $65K for UCSD and BU)
That being said, I’ve been comparing two colleges in terms of rankings, programs, and other miscellaneous factors. UCSD is ranked 21 while BU is ranked 35 in economics. I won’t mind the cold/hot weather of either of the cities, so weather isn’t a big deal for me. My intended goal is to be a successful businessman with mathematical knowledge. Math is my favorite subject but studying economics is my new passion. I’ve already committed to BU (out of GW, UCD, UCI, Babson) and I know that my admission to UCSD is not for sure yet. But, if I do end up getting in, I would have to choose between BU and UCSD. I am geared more towards BU because of the city Boston compared to San Diego. When I think of business and have to choose either of Boston or SD, Boston is the one that comes to my mind without a doubt (of course NY is better). Boston seems to offer better internships and learning environment, but I am willing to terminate my contract with BU if UCSD is the better school. If anyone could give any advice to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
