Does anyone know whether the top $30k scholarship would come off the price of tuition, room, and board if awarded. The total price is 77k. That would bring the cost to $47k which we cannot afford. Our NPC amount came out to $42k which we still can’t afford. I’m wondering if the essay for the separate scholarship application is worth her time. She could be spending time on something more within our reach financially. They say they don’t stack scholarships. This is our first and only child and I’m confused, even after tons of research and visits to colleges.
Bucknell net COA is unlikely to come in lower than this number, provided you filled out the information accurately.
What can you afford/what is your budget?

Less than $30k/year ideally. Thank you for your response! This is helpful. I’m pretty sure I filled the info out correctly.
You can also access the $5500 federally guaranteed student loan.
But if it’s a stretch and you know this up front, then you should move on. There are far more affordable LACs. And no reason to strain yourself financially. Someone on another thread just noted getting $42k at Kalamazoo for example. Not sure if their deadline. And there’s plenty of affordable publics.
Good luck.
