BU'ers beware of downloading!

[Jury awards $675K in Boston music downloading case - Boston.com](http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2009/08/01/jury_awards_675k_in_boston_music_downloading_case/)

Please don’t be an idiot like this kid. When you download don’t share your files! Obviously this could happen to anyone so be very careful! This kid will be in debt for most of his life.

yep, BU ranks as number 2 for most student downloading. Do your downloading at home or be ready to pay the price. Or you could use good old fashioned money to buy your music. Or make some new friends at school and trade mix CDs. Just be careful if you’re going to download! The RIAA watches BU pretty carefully.

Well what is along the lines of good downloading and bad downloading? I like watching torrented movies sometimes and other times I watch movies that other people post on asian websites (like tuduo…etc).

Music I usually get from the library…

Can’t they only see people who download using Peer-to-peer programs or torrents?

Disclaimer: I do not illegally download music, nor do I intend to

I believe torrents are harder to track. Basically if you’re going to use peer to peer just make sure you turn off the share feature. Most people got caught because other people were uploading music from them without them knowing.

This particular kid made songs available to share.

how many ppl here have used or have been able to use torrents?
