David -
Could you please tell us what you liked or did not like about Yale? This will help others make an informed decision. Thanks.

David - I'm a little bit upset to find out that you were there and I didn't even know about it!! I totally would have kept an eye out for you. Are you going to the H admitted students weekend??

Vivaldi - A lot of people there thought I was a crazy person because I kept checking out every guy's nametag for an Andrew Vivaldi, whom I never tracked down. I was in a Constitutional Law class during the lunch meetup.

Anothermom2009, it was really minor things. I didn't like the campus and the city. Furthermore, their financial aid office was really rude.

Lindsey - i'm not going to the Harvard students weekend. I actually had breakfast with NewT and he told me that he saw you.

awww. That's really depressing. It's definitely a loss for Yale, but you have fantastic options. I hope you're happy wherever you go.

Will you be at Harvard next week?

I certainly will be.

Wanna have lunch?

I "enjoyed myself" at Bulldog Days and Brown's ADOCH but left neither with a feeling that "this is the school for me." I wanted to ge this from Yale and was a bit afraid to get it from Brown (Brown is much more expensive for me and I'm trying to get used to the idea of Yale). Overall I think I liked Yale but was more dissapointed in my gut reaction to the school than in anything about Yale itself. I had "fun" (drunk and stoned) and enjoyed the classes but am at home feeling more disappointed than anything else.

How funny! My last name isn't Vivaldi... :p

I was a bit sad not to meet you and a few other people, but I'd like to think I'll see you on campus this fall. ;) Random question - did you get to visit the Center for British Art? I went yesterday and it was amazing.

I was there! But sadly, it made me realize that yale was not for me.

NO! DAVID! :(

barsk, just to let you know, Brown will probably match your Yale aid offer. A couple of weeks ago I sent them a copy of my Yale fin. aid letter, which offered several thousand dollars more than Brown. I found out at ADOCH that Brown had upped my aid package to actually a couple hundred more than Yale. When the financial aid officer was looking at my app on the computer, she made the remark that their aid offer was now lower than Yale's...so they specifically considered Yale's offer in revising my package. Also, at the ADOCH financial aid presentation, the speaker said that they generally consider competing aid offers from Ivy leage institutions and MIT, Stanford, etc.

So if money is affecting your decision, definitely, definitely send in Yale's letter to Brown. They said that they were working to get revised letters to all who appealed their aid package by May 1. good luck!

David(Rune),

it was nice being able to talk to you a bit (albeit it was like 3 in the morning? hahaha). i'm sorry to hear that yale isn't for you. you're a cool guy though and you'll do well anywhere. g'luck at pton (or harvard or wherever you choose)!

Vivaldi - Oh no! I saw LOTS of Andrews, but I was looking very actively for the Vivaldi. I even hung around the architecture spot at the academic/extracurricular fair thinking I might spot you. I didn't get to go to the British Art Gallery, but I went to the Yale Art Gallery across the street and it was lovely.

I totally got the same feeling, barski. Like I wanted to get that "I love this place, it's the place for me, I'm going here" feeling, but I didn't. I got a some sort of uneasy disappointed feeling. Maybe because I don't drink and my prefrosh roommates got grotesquely drunk. Anyways, even though I still have a somewhat bleh buzz, I met some nice people and the positives of the school outweigh my random feelings gotten from those two short days. So I'll be going to Yale!

Unfortunately I'll be in Texas (to watch the Red Sox), but I'll be with you in spirit! I hope the sun shines for you!

Lindsey - I was at the architecture booth for quite a while...hmmm...

And as far as art museums go, when you're back on campus in the fall ;), you'll have to go to the BAC - it is really one of the best art museums I've been to. The main Art Gallery is great, but it's being renovated (the Louis Kahn extension isn't open right now) and it's very hot in the summer. :p

I share Davidrune's feelings-

Yale was my top choice before last week when I attended Princeton's April hosting and visited Harvard (as well as doing Bulldog Days).

But I just didn't get that same wow feeling at Yale that I got at Princeton. Yale is a great school, but I was truthfully a bit disappointed with their Bulldog Days activities and New Haven itself.

Just curious davidrune- where are you going next year

I'm beginning to think it's just a matter of being a Princeton-y person or a Yale-y person. I had the opposite reaction of senioritis04 and Davidrune. Princeton disappointed me, Yale I absolutely, completely fell in love with. Princeton felt very... dead and empty somehow, despite all the activities scheduled and people I met. While everyone was very friendly to the prefrosh, I did not see as much mingling going on among the students themselves. Sort of clique-y. Yale had a very different feel to it, I love its urban setting with all the little coffee shops and ethnic restaurants, and just in general the idea that I would have an automatic social safety net upon arrival with the suite system and residential colleges. There were people walking around, crowding the streets late at night. Not the same at Princeton. In the end, it's just a matter of preference, so congrats senioritis and davidrune on making a decision, it's tough (going nuts with it here), and i'm very sure you guys are going to be happy with your choices.

I'm the same way - head over heels for Yale, even if my mom's hotel room during Bulldog Days overlooked dirty lower-end townhouse apartments. :p The atmosphere was incredible.

ThisIsCrazy - omg i had the exact same reaction!!
