Burnt out and I need help.

It’s finals week, and I have 4 final exams. Two of them are on Friday, the last day of finals week. I already had two. I am burnt out. My first exam Friday I need at least a 70 percent on to get a B- in the class. I started studying, and I just can’t keep going. I am tired and I didn’t even start studying until today because of my other two finals. I plan on spending a late night tonight studying and all day tomorrow, but I need help finishing strong.

I suggest not “spending a late night studying” tonight. Go to bed at an appropriate - even early - time. You need sleep more than you need to cram. Wake up a decent time tomorrow and have a full breakfast. You probably haven’t been eating as well as you should be. A cup of coffee in the morning is fine, but stay off of caffeinated beverages after that. Make a clear outline of what you plan on studying and stick to it. Then go to bed a decent time again tomorrow, and do your best on the exams. Know that you have an entire winter break after them to be “burnt out”, and that you need to finish strong now.

I agree – get some sleep. When I’m really burnt out it doesn’t do me any good to continue pushing forward. I’ve been known to go to bed at 8PM rather than overwork myself. In the morning you’ll be in a much better state of mind and you’ll feel refreshed enough to plan out your studying goals and accomplish them.

I third the first two recommendations. Have a good dinner, take a nice long warm shower, go to bed and let your mind and body refresh. Then get up and start your final push for your exams on Friday. You will perform better if get a little rest.
