BU's acceptance rate this year was 36%

[Class of 2017 accepts 36 percent of applicants | The Daily Free Press](http://dailyfreepress.com/2013/03/27/class-of-2017-accepts-36-percent-of-applicants/)

Holy guacamole. Congrats to all!

I don’t know nor do I care

I knew something was fishy when kids in my class with amazing stats got rejected/waitlisted. If this article is true, I feel quite blessed.

lol it looks like I’m talking to myself, someone posted asking if this was done to boost their rankings on USNEWS

medingdong,

I m rejected by all public schools… but accept by almost all of my private schools… lol… feeling the same way

45% -> 36% = 9% jump in one year!

Their applications jumped by 20%, so if they accepted the same fraction as last year, they would risk having more people enrolling than they have room for in dorms and classrooms. Wasn’t about the same number of offers was made as last year? But since there were significantly more applications, the percentage is smaller. (I don’t know the actual number of accepted students last year.)

In my acceptance letter, it says they receive 52,000 applications this yr. And enroll 100 spots fewer than last yr’s.

Every year is a little better at BU - the trend is steadily up for at least the past 5 years. Sometimes though the change in admitted student statistics is not very large. 9% is jaw dropping to me, as is the jump in applications. BU has received a lot of positive press this year - rated very highly for happiest students, rated very highly for perceived preparation by employers, etc. It is a terrific school - that’s for sure! DD couldn’t be happier.
