Bus and place to stay a night before orientation

<p>I have int orientation on 13th, but there’s no flight that arrives early in the morning…</p>

<p>1) What is good, inexpensive inn either near campus or airport? </p>

<p>2) How should I get a ride from airport to inn and/or inn to school?</p>

<p>Is your orientation one day or two? We made a reservation to stay in the dorm the night we arrive, prior to Day 1 of the two-day session. </p>

<p>Is your mom on the FB parents page? She may be able to arrange a ride for you with another family arriving that day.</p>

<p>Since many students move into Ridgecrest on Aug 7/8/9 for various early programs, I don’t know if dorm housing is available for the orientation during that last week? <p>Are you coming alone or with a parent? If coming alone, book the extra night at the dorm (cheaper than a hotel). Have you booked your flight already for the day before? </p>

<p>If coming with a parent, it may be cheaper to rent a car, otherwise, use one of the shuttles or taxis…hopefully someone can link the numbers.</p>

<p>One day for Int, another day for normal. So I have two orientations. How annoying.</p>

<p>@mom2collegekids‌ I am coming alone to save money. How can I book an extra night at the dorm? is it cheap enough? today I saw some inn’s with 40$/day…</p>

<p>And I didn’t book flight yet but I will fly on 12th of August, a day before my orientation. Since there is no flight that arrives BHM in the morning of 13th, I have to stay night somewhere.</p>

<p>@LucieTheLakie‌ my mom can’t speak English well…do you mind if you maybe help me find a family to arrange a ride…? Taxi and bus is too expensive FOR ME.</p>

<p>@paul2752 - Just contact housing and arrange to move into your dorm the day (or night) that you arrive. There’s no extra charge and it doesn’t matter when you’ll be getting to campus. Just let them know ahead of time: </p>

<p>You’ll have to get a cab from the airport to the Birmingham bus station, and then again from the Tuscaloosa bus station to campus. The whole trip (including bus fare) shouldn’t cost you much more than $40 to $50.</p>

<p>@paul2752, sorry, I didn’t realize how late your orientation is and that there’s a separate one for internationals. </p>

<p>My son will already have completed his Bama Bound orientation and be moved in for Alabama Action the week prior. I’m not aware of any families on the FB page who are attending the international session, unfortunately.</p>

<p>Your orientations are scheduled just days prior to move-in, so I would also recommend arranging to move into your dorm room early if at all possible. When exactly were you planning to move all your stuff to Tuscaloosa?</p>

<p>Nope…have to figure it out. My roommate doesn’t have car, and I know there is greyhound but I still prefer ride because I need to save money as much as possible. I contacted Dorm again beacuse the flight price went up…so i asked if I could move in 7th…</p>

<p>Uh oh - be careful about moving in too early. Yes, you’d probably have no problem getting a ride to campus . . . but your dining card won’t be activated until you attend Bama Bound. Prior to that, you’ll have to pay cash. If you arrive a week early, how are you going to pay for all your meals???</p>

<p>^I applied for exemption from meal plan and dining dollar so it’s okay.</p>
