Reading these forums, it seems as if most of the business majors (or even those intending to major in business) seems pretty knowledgable about things. Whereas I know nothing about business, but it's something I'm interested in.

I mean my family's poor, we didn't invest we just put things in the bank. So I don't really have much experience with money issues. And it seems like most business majors do.

So at how much of a loss would I be, if I were to go into business? Would my classmates be that far ahead of me? And is business the kind of thing where you can learn it in class? Or is some existing knowledge neccesary.

Will it be a level playing field?

And lastly, is there anything I can do to fix this? Would internships work? Or would everything that internships require/expect of me be over my head?

Their motto: Fake it 'till you make it

I tend to find that those who know the least about something talk the most about it, myself excluded of course.

Business is really quite a simple subject, and you really only need to know 3 things; 1) How your boss takes his/her coffee, and 2) how to effectively correct someone when they are wrong or have made an error. The rest is moxy, timing, and a witty sense of humor.

The fact that you family is poor is not good, I would attempt to rectify this in order to level the playing field.

My advice to you, starting out in the business world, is learn to tie a tie correctly, don't sacrifice comfort for style, and above all else don't believe everything you read on the internet... unless it has something to do with viral marketing.
